Fly Screens & Doors
Fresh air without the insects - screens made to size for every door and window.
Melbourne summers are made for open doors and cross-breezes - right up until the flies and mosquitoes follow them in. We make fly screens to the exact size of every opening: hinged and sliding fly screen doors, window screens in any frame colour, and heavier pet-resistant mesh for homes with dogs and cats. Because every screen is custom made, they suit new builds and older homes alike, and they pair naturally with our security doors when you want insect protection at the back and real protection at the front.

Keeping screens in shape
- Brush or vacuum the mesh each season - dust and webs block the airflow you bought them for
- Fibreglass mesh turns brittle after years of UV; re-meshing costs far less than replacing the frame
- Check door rollers and pull tabs yearly - worn rollers, not the mesh, cause most sticking sliding screens
Common questions
- How much do fly screens cost?
- Window screens are the most economical, doors price by size and mesh type, and pet mesh sits slightly above standard. We quote exactly at a free in-home measure - call Peter on 0457 832 875 or Nav on 0458 618 767.
- What is the difference between a fly screen door and a security door?
- A fly screen door keeps insects out; a security door adds a reinforced frame, stainless steel infill and multi-point locking that resist forced entry. Many homes pair a security door at the front with fly screen doors at the back - we make and fit both.
- Can you make fly screens for odd-sized or older windows?
- Yes - every screen is made to the measured opening rather than stock sizes, so older homes, custom windows and new-estate builds are all straightforward.
- Do you repair or re-mesh existing fly screens?
- Yes - torn or brittle mesh can usually be re-meshed in the existing frame through our repairs service, and we replace frames that are past saving.
- Will fly screens block the view or the breeze?
- Standard fibreglass mesh is close to invisible from a normal viewing distance and passes most of the airflow through - the difference on a summer evening is the insects, not the breeze.
- Do fly screens keep mosquitoes out?
- Yes - standard mesh apertures are sized to stop mosquitoes, flies and moths. If midges are the problem near wetlands or retention ponds, ask us about finer mesh when we measure.
